We’re proud to have helped curate the hugely successful Building Compliance & Retrofit Summit 2025, an event that brought together experts, practitioners, and decision-makers from across the built environment to discuss the future of building safety, compliance, and retrofit. Hosted by our colleagues at Ventro Group, alongside LivGreen and Firntec, the summit provided a platform for sharing knowledge, exploring best practice, and advancing the conversation around compliance and the Building Safety Act. For Firntec, it was an opportunity to demonstrate our leadership in fire risk assessment, consultancy, and the development of the wider compliance ecosystem that underpins safe, sustainable buildings.

Industry Expertise & Thought Leadership

The summit featured an exceptional line-up of speakers from across fire safety, compliance, and retrofit sectors, each contributing valuable insights that resonated strongly with housing providers, asset managers, and compliance professionals from across the country.

We were privileged to hear from leading industry figures, including Neil Hope-Collins of the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), who shared key updates on regulatory priorities and the future of building safety reform. Antony Taylor of the Building Safety Alliance outlined how organisations can build and evidence competence across teams, while Howard Passey of the Fire Protection Association explored the challenges of adapting buildings for new uses without compromising fire safety, a topic that aligns closely with Firntec’s expertise.

A key highlight of the Summit was Firntec’s contribution to the discussions around compliance ecosystems and the practical implementation of the Building Safety Act.

Frazer Keam delivered a session on understanding the compliance ecosystem. He demonstrated how Firntec’s integrated, multi-disciplinary approach helps clients manage complex compliance requirements across fire safety, water hygiene, electrical testing, and structural safety through a single, unified framework. Frazer showcased how the Firntec ecosystem reduces duplication, cuts costs, and provides total clarity across multiple compliance streams ensuring consistent reporting, holistic oversight, and long-term safety assurance.

Meanwhile, Stephen Hockin of Firntec joined Adam Sanders of RiskBase and Steven Wilson of Ventro for the Building Safety in Practice panel. Together, they explored how the “Golden Thread” of information can only be achieved through accurate, accessible, and collaborative data. Their discussion highlighted the importance of trust in data, moving away from siloed systems and towards live, shared information that strengthens accountability and decision-making.

The panel also examined the Regulator’s expectations for “confident articulation” of building safety management and the challenges that duty holders face in producing safety cases. Stephen and Adam shared how Firntec and RiskBase are enabling clients to overcome these obstacles through robust data integration, digital record-keeping, and practical guidance that makes compliance measurable and transparent.

The session reflected Firntec’s position at the forefront of building safety consultancy, connecting regulation, data, and on-the-ground practice into one cohesive, future-ready compliance model.

Reflecting on the Summit

The feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with delegates describing the event as “insightful,” “well-structured,” and “essential for anyone involved in building safety.” The balance between regulatory updates, legal clarity, and practical case studies ensured that every session offered real, actionable takeaways.
