Navigating building safety compliance is becoming increasingly complex with responsible persons facing more scrutiny, documentation demands and regulatory requirements. Firntec’s new Retained Consultancy Service has been designed to provide ongoing, expert support, helping our clients remain compliant and reduce risk.
Rather than reactive, one-off advice, our retained consultancy model gives you access to Firntec as a long-term partner. We act as a trusted adviser across fire, structural and building safety matters, ensuring your compliance position remains robust as your buildings and UK regulations evolve.
Firntec manages and oversees compliant PAS 9980:2022 Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEW) through approved assessors, ensuring assessments are coordinated, reviewed and aligned with regulatory expectations.
We also deliver end-to-end Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS) funding support, including preparation and submission of applications, collation of building and responsible-entity data, resident and leaseholder engagement evidence, and financial documentation. Throughout the process, we liaise directly with Homes England, from application and grant agreement through to funding drawdown and reporting
Post-award, Firntec continues to support clients with project planning, grant-claim administration, cost scheduling and resident communication, ensuring funding conditions are met and risks of delay or rejection are minimised.
As part of the retained service, Firntec acts as an ongoing adviser for building safety compliance under the Building Safety Regulator. We prepare, update and manage your building safety case and compliance documentation, ensuring all documentation remains current as surveys are completed, remediation progresses or building information changes.
We also manage regulatory correspondence and Requests for Information (RFIs), providing structured, timely responses and maintaining clear audit trails. This proactive approach helps clients stay ahead of regulatory change, reduce enforcement risk and demonstrate effective control of building safety risks.
Clients benefit from access to fire and building safety advice, risk-management support and structural consultancy as any issues arise. The retained model allows for fast turnaround on small-to-medium scope requests such as document reviews, risk assessments and technical appraisals, without the delays often associated with one-off commissions.
Where remediation is required, Firntec provides project consultancy and management support, including contractor liaison, oversight of remedial design and works, and coordination with regulators and funding bodies. This ensures remediation activity is aligned with both safety objectives as well as compliance obligations.
The building safety and funding landscape is highly procedural and documentation heavy. Errors, omissions or delays can result in rejected applications, regulatory challenge or stalled works. Firntec’s retained consultancy service ensures submissions are compliant, consistent and well-governed, reducing risk for you at every stage.
For clients managing multiple buildings or large portfolios, the service provides centralised oversight and clarity. Our experience working directly with the BSR and funding bodies offers reassurance that obligations are being met, communications are managed effectively and safety risks are addressed proactively instead of reactively.
Firntec’s retained consultancy service is available on a monthly retainer, covering FRAEW oversight, CSS application and funding support, regulatory liaison and core building safety and façade consultancy. It is designed to flex with your needs while providing certainty, expertise and peace of mind.
If you would like to discuss whether a retained consultancy model is right for your buildings or portfolio, our team would be happy to help.
